AI Mention Finder is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your data should stay yours. This document explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how you maintain complete control.

On Your Device (Browser Storage):

  • Brand names you search for
  • Queries you run
  • AI model results
  • Check timestamps
  • Your search history

On Our Servers (Temporarily):

  • API requests to check AI model mentions
  • No user identification
  • No persistent storage of queries or results
  • Logs retained for 24 hours max for debugging

Analytics (Ahrefs Web Analytics):

  • Page views
  • Geographic region (country-level only)
  • Device type (mobile/desktop)
  • Browser type
  • Core Web Vitals performance metrics
  • No personal identification
  • No cross-site tracking

What We DON'T Collect

  • ❌ IP addresses (not stored)
  • ❌ Personal information
  • ❌ Login credentials (no authentication system)
  • ❌ Credit card information (no payment system)

  • ❌ Cookies for tracking

Data Storage

Client-Side Storage (Your Browser)

IndexedDB:

  • All your search history stored locally in your browser
  • Brand mention checks with timestamps
  • Query templates you've used
  • Competitor comparison results

Control:

  • You can clear your history anytime from the "History" page
  • You can export your data (JSON/CSV format)
  • Clearing browser data removes all stored information
  • No sync across devices (data stays on your device)

Server-Side Storage

What Goes to Our Servers:

  • Brand names and queries ONLY when you click "Check Mentions"
  • Sent to AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity) for analysis
  • Not stored in our database
  • Temporary server logs (deleted within 24 hours)

What Doesn't Go to Our Servers:

  • Your search history
  • Previously run checks
  • Exported data
  • Any personal information

AI Provider Disclosure

When you click "Check Mentions," we send your query to AI providers:

OpenAI (ChatGPT):

  • Your query (e.g., "best project management tools")
  • Brand name you're checking
  • Purpose: Generate AI response to analyze brand mentions

Anthropic (Claude):

  • Your query
  • Brand name
  • Purpose: Generate AI response to analyze brand mentions

Google (Gemini):

  • Your query
  • Brand name
  • Purpose: Generate AI response to analyze brand mentions

Perplexity:

  • Your query
  • Brand name
  • Purpose: Generate AI response to analyze brand mentions

AI Provider Privacy Policies

Important: AI providers may use queries to improve their models. We use Vercel AI Gateway which provides a unified API, but data is ultimately processed by each AI provider according to their policies.

How We Use Your Data

On Your Device

  • Display your search history
  • Show trends over time
  • Allow you to re-run previous checks
  • Export your data for your own use

On Our Servers

  • Process your brand mention check requests
  • Query AI models on your behalf
  • Return results to your browser
  • Debug errors (temporary logs only)

Analytics

  • Understand which pages are most popular
  • Measure site performance (Core Web Vitals)
  • Identify geographic distribution (country-level)
  • No individual user tracking

Who We Share With

AI Providers (When You Click "Check Mentions"):

Vercel (Hosting & Analytics):

  • Vercel hosts our application
  • Vercel Analytics collects anonymous usage data
  • No personal identification

Ahrefs (Web Analytics):

Your Rights & Control

You Can:

  • ✅ Clear your history anytime
  • ✅ Use the tool without any registration
  • ✅ Block IndexedDB storage (tool will still work, but no history)

Data Retention

Your Device:

  • Data persists until you clear it
  • No expiration
  • You control retention

Our Servers:

  • API logs: 24 hours max
  • No long-term storage of your queries

Deleting Your Data

From Your Device:

  1. Go to "History" page
  2. Click "Clear History"
  3. Or clear browser data (IndexedDB)

From Our Servers:

  • Nothing to delete (we don't store it long-term)
  • API logs auto-delete after 24 hours

Security

How We Protect Your Data

  • ✅ No user accounts (no account takeovers)
  • ✅ Client-side storage (data never leaves your device except during checks)

Children's Privacy

AI Mention Finder is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used our service, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Major changes will be highlighted on the homepage.
